Kyoto: Stone Statues

Kyoto is rich in history and wonderfully photogenic — which is great for travelers and photogs, but not so interesting to a 5 year old.  After few hours of walking around, Ting Ting gave up looking for that mythical playground just around the corner and decided to turn the cobblestone alleys into her own playground.  She invented a game called “stone staues”, whereby she would stand motionless pretending to be a statue…I’d then have to walk up to inspect the statue and just as I convince myself it is merely a stone statue and not a real person,  it (she) would jump to life and scare the crap out of her old man and proceed to laugh herself silly.  Then, repeat. And again, and again…

  1. Knowing you, as you were writing this story about your statue game with Ting Ting, you may have wondered whether your readers would also enjoy your tale. Rest assured that this reader was thoroughly amused at the thought if Ting Ting being so impressed with her statue skills!
